CDT courses in Cambridge
EPSRC Centres for Doctoral Training
In February 2019, the University was successful in securing EPSRC funding for five Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs), and is a partner in four other successful bids led by other partner universities. The first of five sets of student cohorts start in October 2019 and students can apply by visiting the CDT pages below.
Details of the CDTs are as follows:
- Future Infrastructure and Built Environment: Resilience in a changing world (FIBE2)
- Propulsion and Power Aerodynamics – in partnership with the Universities of Oxford and Loughborough
- Integrated Functional Nano: Discovery & Design to translation and innovation (i2Nano)
- Sensor Technologies for a healthy and sustainable future
- Automated Chemical Synthesis enabled by Digital Molecular Technologies (SynTech)
- Connected Electronic and Photonic Systems (CEPS) – led by University College, London
- Future Nuclear Technologies – led by Imperial College London
- Agri-Food Robotics - led by the University of Lincoln
- Aerosol Science - led by the University of Bristol

In CDTs with multiple University partners:
- some teaching will be provided by/at other institutions
- registration for a first-year masters degree may not be in Cambridge
- a few PhD studentships will be available in Cambridge as well as at the other partners - please enquire through the lead institution.
